Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The main goal of the subject is acquiring the knowledge and skills of the design, dimensioning, strength and stiffness calculations of the mechanical parts and basic mechanical transmissions.
Recommended Optional Programme Components
Common optional components are not offered, students of special interest can participate in departmental activities or can arrange consulting hours with lecturer.
Course Contents
The subject deals with a design and loading capacity calculations of basic machine parts. It concerns permanent and detachable joints:
- threaded connections (included motion screws)
- keys and pins
- shaped joints
- press fitted joints and friction clamps
- riveted joints
- welded joints
- bonded joints.
Then it deals with a parts and mechanisms of machine drives as are shafts, bearings, shaft couplings and brakes, transmissions using gearing, chain and belt
