You can travel to Ostrava by plane, either from Prague or Vienna. Ostrava-Mošnov airport is about 25 km from the Ostrava city centre which can be reached by bus, Airport Shuttle or taxi. VŠB-TUO University Campus is about 30 minutes journey by tram No. 8 (direction Poruba, Vřesinská) from the city centre. You can also hire a car at the airport.
If your flight terminates in Prague, you can get to Ostrava by direct train or bus. The journey by SuperCity Pendolino train takes about 3 hours. The railway station closest to the University is Ostrava-Svinov station. You can take a taxi or go by tram to get to the University campus. The tram stop is about 300 metres from the railway station, and trams No. 7, 8, 17 (direction Poruba, Vřesinská) take about 10 minutes to the tram stop „Rektorát VŠB“, which is close to the university campus and halls of residence. The railway station in the city centre is „Ostrava - hlavní nádraží (Main Station)“. From here tram No. 8 (direction Poruba, Vřesinská) goes to the University campus, and takes about 35 minutes.
There are several companies providing a direct bus link from Prague to Ostrava, and this journey takes about 5 hours and 20 minutes. Use tram No. 8 (direction Poruba, Vřesinská) to get to the university campus from Ostrava bus station, which takes about 20 minutes. Those travelling by car can arrive in Ostrava from Prague by motorway in about 4 hours.
