English for Scientific and Academic Purposes: part two

Anotace

This course is designed to continue developing language skills in the academic and scientific areas and to further enhance the practical application of acquired knowledge from the previous course (winter semester) (1). It covers another part of the academic and scientific corpus (2), where students will learn how to evaluate ideas, explain concepts, express opinions, and confidently pursue the audience (3). The course also concentrates on the formal language generally used in written academic contexts (4) and emphasizes different types of citations (5).

Entry requirements for the course:
The entry requirement for the course is knowledge of English at the B1 level. Completing the first part of the course in the winter semester is highly recommended but not a requirement.

Requirements for course completion:
Active participation in the class, processing of assigned tasks for the period of the summer semester, final presentation of the progress in the researched area and describing prospectives in the scientific area based on the expected results of the research using the language for scientific and academic purposes, final test.
