Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Master's degree programme.
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VŠB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Study branch is focused on the preparation of graduates who master professional subject matters from the sphere of geoinformatics and geoinformation technologies at the level that allows you to do research and development in the field of new approaches, methods and algorithms of processing of geodata, the development of a conceptually completely new systems for the collection, storage, analysis and presentation of geodata, the creation of new applications of geoinformation technologies, the implementation of the advanced analysis and search for new ways to solve wide variety of spatial problems.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates are prepared on an independent work on solution of demanding tasks in research and development of new applications of geoinformation technology solutions to existing along with new procedures and on the solution of completely new tasks. They are prepared for the different areas of application of geoinformation technologies such as hydrology, socio-economic analysis (analysis of the labour market, the analysis of unemployment, the analysis of the transport servicing etc.), geoweb services, and intelligent transport systems, any of the advanced data processing methods in different areas. The specific focus of each of the graduates is determined by their individual study plan and dissertation theme. They shall apply as administrators and application developers of geoinformation technologies and as analysts, both in the public administration and in the commercial sector. They will be exercisable even in academic and research institutions.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VŠB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
