ECTS Credits at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava are based on the workload students need in order to achieve expected learning outcomes. They reflect the quantity of work each course requires in relation to the total quantity of work required to complete a full year of academic study at the institution, including: lectures, practical work, seminars, private work (in the library and at home), and examinations or other practical activities. ECTS expresses a relative value. 60 ECTS credits are attached to the workload of a full-time academic year of formal learning and the associated learning outcomes. At VSB - Technical University of Ostrava one ECTS credit corresponds to 30 hours of workload for an average student, which is determined with regard to the study capacity of 1 academic year (1800 hours).
Learning outcomes describe what a learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do after successful completion of a process of learning. They relate to level descriptors in national, sectoral and European qualifications frameworks.
Workload indicates the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, self-study and examinations) required to achieve the expected learning outcomes.
At VSB - Technical University of Ostrava 60 ECTS credits are allocated to the workload of a full-time academic year, 30 ECTS credits are normally allocated to a semester.
At VSB-TUO study results of our outgoing students are fully recognised based on the Transcript of Records from the host university, which must be in full compliance with the Learning Agreement, eventually Changes of Learning Agreement. Study results from abroad are fully recognised in ECTS credits according to the Transcript of Records from the host university. If the study results are stated in local credits we detect the conversion and transfer local credits from host institution to ECTS credits.
All incoming students receive Transcript of Records upon terminating of their studies at VSB–TUO, this document is issued based on the achieved study results.
