Specific Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning
Informal learning - max. 60% of credits gained in prior lifelong learning can be recognized, as determined by the Dean of the Faculty.

Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The programme is aimed at providing talented and motivated students with various professional capabilities needed to become leading experts in management and business. Typical features of the programme are a relatively great emphasis put on the practical applicability of the acquired knowledge and competencies, as well as its European focus, as compared to alternative business-oriented programmes. The core of the programme represents obligatory courses in managerial economics, management, marketing, business administration, finance, accounting, and related areas, of which many reflect the EU context. In each semester students can also choose from a wide offer of optional courses like International Monetary Relations, International Business, E-business application etc. In the last semester students participate in practical placements abroad or in the Czech Republic.

Knowledge:
- broad comprehension of business economics and administration in the EU context - extensive knowledge of managerial theories, concepts and decision-making techniques - understanding various ways and means of practical application of managerial theories, concepts, and techniques, including strenghts and weaknesses of different business philosophies and managerial approaches
Skills:
- to employ professional knowledge for dealing with basic field problems and issues - to acquire, classify, and apply relevant information for resolving practical business & managerial problems - to apply selected managerial problem-solving methodologies and techniques in practice
General competencies:
- to design and manage business projects and apply appropriate methods of qualitative & quantitative data analysis - to effectively lead smaller international teams and coordinate activities of team members - to employ modern IT and communication technologies in professional work - to upgrade professional knowledge and skills through a life-long learning & training
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates can pursue their career in middle management in industry, trade or services. They can also work in EU administration, or continue in the master programme.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
