Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.

The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The aim of the study specialization of Business Administration is to prepare qualified specialists who will be able to perform jobs and managerial functions in the field of economics and management of the company at lower and middle management level. The profile of the curriculum is conceived to provide graduates with skill set for different types of enterprises both in terms of the business activity (production enterprises, services, virtual enterprises) and in terms of size. Graduates should find themselves at the lower and middle managerial level, as specialists in dedicated departments (e.g. planning, controlling, quality, logistics, human resources), as well as owners of an enterprise.

Knowledge:
The content of the curriculum is mainly concerned with acquisition of knowledge and practical skills in the following areas: - business economics, - organization of the business, - management and managerial skills, - legislation for economists, - logistics and quality management, - business analysis, - legal and administrative principles for setting up a business, - the specifics of small and medium-sized enterprises, - consumer protection, - human resource management, - informatics and business information systems, - managerial accounting and tax Issues.
Skills:
performing a standard economic analysis of the company's business, - addressing the core tasks of purchasing, planning and managing of production and inventory, - understanding the principles and execution of managerial functions, - application of managerial skills, - orientation in the commercial regulation of economic relations and labour law, - performing simple process analysis and product quality assessment, - understanding the aspects of small and medium-sized enterprises, - performing individual HR activities, - leading small teams of collaborators, - orientation in enterprise information systems, - understanding of accounting and financial reporting and tax related problems.
General competencies:
Professional skills of a graduate of the Business Administration study specialization include the ability to perform specific jobs and managerial functions in the field of economics and management of the company at the lower and middle management level. These are primarily knowledge and skills of business analysis, planning, quality, logistics or controlling or even trade. The graduate has excellent ability to make general judgment about the problem, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills. Graduates can communicate comprehensibly and convincingly and to give experts and general public their own professional opinions in at least one foreign language. The graduate is very well prepared for further education in the follow-up study.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The curriculum is designed regarding the necessary skill set required from graduates in different types of enterprises both in terms of the business activity (production enterprises, services, virtual enterprises) and in terms of their size. They should be able to perform tasks lower and middle managerial level, work as specialists in dedicated departments (e.g. planning, controlling, quality, logistics), or being able to establish and control own enterprise. Typical working positions of graduates of this specialization are: - business economist, - logistics manager, - purchasing and procurement, - production planner, - lower level manager, - budgeter, - junior controller, - office manager, - assistant manager, - independent entrepreneur.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
