Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.

The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The aim of specialization Economics and Law in Business is to prepare qualified professionals, who will be able to obtain deeper knowledge significantly influencing an acting of each economist contrary to the graduates of other programmes. The study is focused and structured in the way to make the graduate be able to employ himself at the professional economic and managerial positions and other specialized functions at the lower and middle levels in the frame of trade corporations and institutions of public administration as well.

Knowledge:
As for the content of the study, acquiring knowledge and practical skills in the following fields is the main goal: - systemization of legal order, - the law of trade corporations and obligatory law, - law of economic and unfair competitions, - labour law and law of social welfare, - trade licensing, - tax and administration law, - economic crime, - enterprise economy and company organization, - managerial methods and HR management.
Skills:
- starting and doing business in different forms, - orientation in tax and trade-legal relationships, - processing of typical trade contracts, - processing of the basic submissions towards administration authorities, - application of labour-law regulations, - evaluation of criminal-legal aspects of economic practice, - providing a observance of occupational safety rules and its evaluation, - managing the procedures of local organizational units in different agendas, - administration of individual types of taxes or grants, - solving the needed agenda in administration procedure, - orientation in economy and financial company management, providing the standard economic analyses, application of managerial skills, providing the personal activities.
General competencies:
- to transfer obtained knowledge and skill for practical tasks solutions, ability of oral communication and communication by the presentations, - to organize and coordinate a team when solving a given task, - to identify and analyze a factual, economic and legal status of problem in practice, - to understand legal texts and legal talks, to use suitable legal argumentation, - to identify problems our of managerial practice, - to extent study skills and interest in studied field taking possible magisterial programme study into consideration.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The study is focused and structured in the way to make the graduate be able to employ himself at the professional economic and managerial positions and other specialized functions at the lower and middle levels in the frame of trade corporations and institutions of public administration as well. Typical working positions of graduate of this specialization are: economist in corporate sphere, non-profit organizations and municipalities, businessman, auditor, tax advisor, real estate agent, insolvency administrator, executor, authorized representative, property administrator, specialist of labour-law relationships, professional officer of occupational safety, labour relationships and working conditions, officer in public service, professional of legal issues in the public service system, officer of public service, specialist of social welfare, specialist of collection and execution of insurance, officer of employment, officer of financial and tax administration.

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
