Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.

The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The aim of the Sports Management specialization is to prepare qualified specialists who will be able to perform specialized work in the field of sport management at the lower and middle management level. The study is focused and profiled especially with regard to the employability of graduates at the level of management of sports clubs and organizations, organizing and managing large sports events, sporting companies of various sizes, ownership or legal forms, such as founders and owners of an enterprise associated with the production of sports goods or operating sports services. Graduates will also be employed in the state and municipal spheres, in the departments organizing physical education and sports of the general population, in sports centers controlled by the army and the police or in the sports centers of the Czech Republic.

Knowledge:
The content of the study is mainly the acquisition of knowledge and practical skills in the following areas: - managerial methods and techniques, - sports management and marketing, - philosophy and sociology of physical culture, - the ethics of sport, - physical activities.
Skills:
- understanding the systematic and analytical methods and techniques used in the individual fields of management, - understanding the principles of performing managerial functions in the sporting environment, - drawing up long-term, medium and short-term plans to meet sporting, economic and social objectives of the sports club, - establishing an appropriate marketing concept for a sports club, - orientation in marketing communication with an emphasis on sports advertising and sponsorship, - solving typical tasks of managerial work with an emphasis on social and sociological aspects, - orientation in the ethical problems of the current sporting environment, - orientation in the requirements for preferred management sports.
General competencies:
Professional qualification of a graduate specialization Sport Management includes the ability to perform specialized work in the field of sport management at lower and middle management level. These include knowledge and skills for running sports clubs and organizing sporting events. The students will have knowledge of projects related to the production and sale of sporting goods, sports activities, advertising and sports marketing, etc. The graduate will have excellent general judgment skills, as well as excellent oral communication or presentation skills. Graduates are able to communicate comprehensibly and convincingly and to present to experts and the general public their own professional opinions in at least one foreign language. The graduate is very well prepared for further education in the follow-up Master's degree program.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The study is focused and profiled especially with regard to the employability of graduates at the level of management of sports clubs and organizations, organizing and managing large sports events, sporting companies of various sizes, ownership or legal forms, such as founders and owners of an enterprise associated with the production of sports goods or operating sports services. Graduates will could be employed in the state and municipal spheres, in the departments organizing physical education and sports of the general population, in sports centers controlled by the army and the police or in the sports centers of the Czech Republic. Typical job positions of the graduate of this specialization are manager of sports clubs, managers of sport associations and organizations, advertising and marketing agencies with sports focus, travel agent with tourist and sports and recreational programs, specialist for organizing sport competitions, tournaments from national to international, head of Physical Education and Sports Departments at Regional, City and Municipal Councils, expert in organizing sports activities and competitions for handicapped athletes, specialist for the search for sport talents and for working with talented youth, production and sales manager of sports products, manager in the field of sport services of various character, sports coach, advisor, trainer, instructor, qualified expert in the healthy lifestyle of the wide population, employee of Sports Centers of the Czech Republic, manager of the centers controlled by the army or the police of the Czech Republic or the head of the economic or marketing section of the sports club.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
