Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
• Preparation of qualified professionals who will be able to perform specialized jobs and managerial functions in multinational companies, national private companies or public institutions. • Providing the graduates with basic knowledge of the economic environment and relationships in national and international contexts, thanks to which they may find employment as experts dealing with various aspects of the functioning of economic systems in the global economic environment. • Focus and specialization of the study, especially with regard to the practical application of graduates in the challenging competitive environment of the global economy.

Knowledge:
Graduates of the degree course International Economic Relations demonstrate, beyond the knowledge gained from the common basis of the Applied Economics study program, extensive knowledge and understanding of the subject and scope of the given specialization in the following areas: • economic integration and globalization with a focus on integration and globalization processes in the world economy, • the European integration process and international security issues, • entrepreneurship in the European Union's internal market, • project and grant management applied in real practice by private and public sector entities.
Skills:
Graduates of the degree course International Economic Relations can, beyond the professional skills gained in the joint study program of Applied Economics, solve practical problems and use basic research procedures in the form of: • understanding the basic theoretical laws and the ability to apply them in practice, taking into account current developments in the European Union and the world economy, • ability to orientate in data and analyse problems in individual areas of expertise including design solutions and implementation plan, • a solution of business cases with respect to the export/import and investment interests of the company or the state, • the use of various forms of business support by the Czech Republic and the EU.
General competencies:
Graduates of the degree course International Economic Relations are able, in accordance with the general competencies gained in the joint foundation of the Applied Economics study program: • to prepare and implement development projects co-financed from public sources at regional, national and international level independently and in a team, • to use their expertise, skills and competencies in at least one foreign language, • to acquire further professional knowledge, skills and competencies on the basis of practical experience and its evaluation, as well as by the independent study of the theoretical knowledge of study specialization.

Bachelor degree in International Economic Relations offers a high-quality bachelor degree in economics with a focus on its practical application in economic and corporate practice in an international context. Thanks to this, the graduates can be employed in the public and private spheres in the regional, national and European and international environment. Selected typical job positions of the graduate of the specialization International Economic Relations: • Economist in non-profit organizations, municipalities, national and international institutions and organizations. • Referent in the departments of state administration and self-government. • Specialist in external economic relations and foreign trade activities. • Specialist in regional development. • Financial Analyst. • Project manager. • Professional consultant in companies, government departments and self-government.

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
