Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The aim of the follow-up Master's degree study programme Finance and Accounting is to prepare highly qualified specialists who will be able to perform specialized analytical work and management functions related to financial, accounting and tax issues at the top and middle management level of enterprises and institutions. The study is structured in two specializations, namely Finance and Accounting and Taxes. The aim of the specialization Accounting and Taxes is to educate a graduate, who find employment in more demanding posts both in accounting, tax and auditing companies, production and business enterprises, financial institutions, as well as in the non-profit sphere or state administration.

Knowledge:
The basics of the Master's programme Finance and Accounting is to acquire knowledge in the areas of financial management and decision-making of businesses, financial institutions and public sector entities, as well as controlling, accounting and business and non-business entities in connection with more complex accounting and tax transactions.
Skills:
Within the specialization Accounting and Taxes, the graduates will acquire knowledge and skills in the fields of accounting and taxes, cost management, costing, pricing, controlling, accounting of financial institutions and insurance companies, transactions related to acquisitions, mergers and enterprises combinations, international financial reporting standards, reporting, auditing, consolidation, liquidation and insolvency proceedings, valuation of companies, tax issues including tax theories, EU tax policy and international taxation. The professional skills in the specialization Accounting and Taxes relate to the application and use of accounting information in relation to the economic analysis including use of accounting data and mathematical-statistical methods to perform financial analysis, the application of financial management principles in the areas of reporting and managerial accounting, the ability to implement more advanced accounting and tax issues including practical application in the field of accounting and tax advising.
General competencies:
The narrower focus of the study programme is realized through compulsory and optional subjects of Accounting and Taxes which are focused mainly on the more demanding issues of accounting and taxation of business entities, financial institutions and public sector entities in connection with more complex accounting and tax transactions, management and decision making in business corporations including all specific areas and international aspects.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The aim of the specialization Accounting and Taxes is to educate a graduate, who finds employment in more demanding jobs both in accounting, tax and auditing companies, production and business enterprises, financial institutions, as well as in the non-profit sphere or state administration. Among the typical positions of the graduates of the specialization Accounting and Taxes belong the head of accounting, tax, economic and control departments, accounting and tax adviser, insolvency practitioner, IFRS specialist and specialist in controlling, consolidation and reporting department, financial and control department, economist and manager, expert and chief financial officer, assistant auditor, internal auditor and statutory auditor, expert in the branch economics, field of accounting evidence and specialist in the given field.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
