Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The objective of the Finance master study is to prepare highly qualified experts, who will be able to solve analytical tasks and work at managerial positions concerning financial area at middle and high level of management in companies and institutions. The study is structured and focused the way so that the graduates will practice in financial departments and in the financial management of non-financial institutions (production and business companies), financial institutions (commercial and investment banks, investment companies, insurance companies) and national economy (government and regional administration).

Knowledge:
The fundamental of the study is to obtain knowledge in the following areas: - financial management and financial decision-making of the companies, costs management, calculations, prices, accounting and taxes, - financial and capital markets, commercial and investment banking, insurance companies, - financial decision-making under risk, investment decision-making, company valuation, financial modelling, tax theory, - financial, money and capital markets, commercial bank management, investment companies and insurance companies, derivatives valuation, financial assets portfolio management, - international finance, international financial institutions, financial systems, fiscal and tax systems, etc.
Skills:
• analyzing financial situation of the company, • solution of the financial management problems, • investment project valuation, • proposal of the price and costs calculations, • orientation in the managerial accounting, • understanding the principles of taxation and taxes, • orientation in area of banking and insurance, • understanding commercial bank management, investment companies and funds, instance etc., • property valuation, security valuation, company valuation • financial models proposal, etc. • řízení portfolií finančních aktiv, • orientace v oblasti mezinárodních financí, mezinárodních finančních institucí a mezinárodních soustav
General competencies:
Graduates are after the successful study prepared for highly qualified positions, where they will be able to solve analytical tasks and work at managerial positions at the middle and high level of the management of the companies, banks, insurance companies and other bank and non-bank institutions.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates of the Finance will practice especially in the financial departments of production and business companies, in the area of financial control, at the managerial positions in bank area and other financial institutions at the financial market, at the positions of financial and tax consultants, etc.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
