Summary
The course deals with the operating system Linux, which is based on Unix-based systems. The course focuses especially to his administration (the administration), understanding principles of functioning of the system (architecture, life cycle of the Solaris OS), and finally its installation, backup and subsequent maintenance. Everything will be done using Oracle software, VirtualBox.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Using virtualization on the desktop.
Ability to install an operating system (OS), Linux.
Managing Linux in terms of the system administrator.
Remote administration of Linux.
Compare Linux and Windows, consider the appropriateness of their application in specific cases.
Course Contents
1. Introduction to operating systems, their structure.
2. Memory management, process management, synchronization algorithms.
3. Storage media, file systems.
4. Graphic tools for management of processes, networks and hardware.
5. Administration consoles for solving problems in MS Windows.
6. Windows administration in text mode - command line, PowerShell, scripts.
7. Access control and administration of users and MS Windows registries.
8. Text mode administration of Linux and Mac OS, comparison of both systems.
9. Advanced system administration in text mode Bash (Linux and Mac OS).
10. Access control and user management in Linux and Mac OS, comparison of both systems.
11. Device and network management using a text interface in Linux and Mac OS.
12. Directory services - Active Directory.
13. Introduction of Windows Server administration.
14. Solving problems found from graphic or text consoles, or logs.
