Summary
The subject develops the practical knowledge of students from the area of international trade to the level of a wider theoretical knowledge connected with the international exchange and the movement of production factors in order to carry out their own empirical analysis and the deductions of conclusions with respect to the position of countries in world trade in the future.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- To describe the principle of advanced theories of international trade
- To identify the influence of production factors on international trade
- To analyse trade flows
- To interpret the data and results of trade analyses
Course Contents
1.International trade flows in the globalised world economy.
2.The substance of the theories of international economic relations and the causes of the occurrence of international trade.
3.International trade and the production factors equipment of countries.
4.Neoclassical model of general equilibrium and protectionism.
5.The diversification of economy and the issue of the Dutch disease.
6.Keynesian‘s theories and approaches to international trade.
7.International trade and technological progress.
8.The theoretical models of tariff protection and protectionism.
9.Protectionism and developing countries.
10.New theory of international trade.
11.Regional trade agreements and the gravity models of international trade.
12.New “new” theory of international trade.
13.The competitiveness in international trade.
14.The evaluation of the present trends in the world trade development.
