Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
Studies of Bachelor’s degree programme Public Economics and Administration focus on broad theoretical and practical expertise that enable graduates systematic perception and evaluation of economic, political and administrative processes realized in public sector. Comprehensive expertise is defined by fundamental theoretical courses, especially by Mathematics, Statistics, Economic Theory and Public Economics, Public Administration, Economic Policy, Law and Finance. Specific expertise is defined by courses of profiling courses – Economy of Public Sector, Public Budgets, Public Property and Economy of Non-profit Organizations.

Knowledge:
Graduates of Bachelor’s degree programme prove: - broad knowledge and understanding of the field of study, especially with respect to the profiling courses; - broad knowledge of theories, concepts and methods of the field of study defined by fundamental theoretical courses; - understanding of the possibilities, conditions and limits of the use of the theories, concepts and methods in the practice of public administration and other public services.
Skills:
Graduates of Bachelor’s degree programme are able: - to solve practical problems of the field of study related to the evaluation of organization, technology and financing of public services’ processes, with respect to the tasks’ given framework and with the use of the expertise; - to search, sort and interpret information relevant for the solution of practically defined problems, for instance with the use of public data files and datasets, with the use of reviews and analyses of expert national and foreign sources; - to use some of the basic research attempts applied in the field of study to the extent necessary for the solution of practical problems of the field of study, for instance statistical methods, factor analysis.
General competencies:
Graduates of Bachelor’s degree programme are able: - to make their own and responsible decisions in partly-known professional context with respect to the professional tasks’ framework; - to coordinate their own activities with the activities of other team members and to take the responsibility for the outcomes, with respect to the professional tasks’ framework and allocated sources; - to inform professionals and laymen understandably and convincingly about the nature of a problem and their own opinion on its solution; - to take into consideration ethical dimension of the solved problems, in relation to public interest and specific ethical requirements laid down on public services and the use of public sources; - to use of their expertise and competences in at least one world language; - to develop acquired expertise and abilities in relation to their practical experience and their evaluation.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates of Bachelor’s degree programme will find employment in state administration, territorial and professional self-government, in organizations of public sector and in civil non-profit organizations. Typical professional positions of the graduates: - Specialized clerk in the field of financial, internal, tax, schools, social, medical care and transport administration; - Economist in organizations of public and civil sector; - Manager of public budget at all levels of public administration, - Manger of public property; - Organizational specialist ensuring internal administration and partnership projects; - Auditor (controller) in public administration; - Administrative and archiving clerk; - Project manager.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
