Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Bachelor's degree field "Municipal Engineering"is in the first two years focused on the subjects of theoretical basis - to the natural, social and economic sciences. Following two years (3rd and 4th) are aimed at teaching of professional disciplines with the oversize to the practice. At first there is the case of general construction and its focus on city planning and landuse planning, including the types of buildings for housing and civic facilities. A knowledge of the technical infrastructure of the city and knowledge of investors performance and engineering activities represents the other. At the same time the meeting with economic subjects, in particular the construction business management and budgeting, and building valuation is ensured. Bachelor study is completed by processing and defending the bachelor`s work and exam.

Knowledge:
Field of Urban Engineering and Civil Engineering prepares students for careers in a wide range of knowledge from all disciplines of basic construction, but also with the knowledge and relations in the capital construction of complex files, including cities and in securing the investment process.
Skills:
Professional skills of graduates can be summarized into the following groups: the ability to participate in the preparation of investment projects, capital construction leadership, the ability to create investment project documentation, ability to handle a professional technical studies, the ability to create strategic and development documents.
General competencies:
personal management, planning and organizing work, motivating people, dealing with people, presentation, team work, information, analysis and problem solving, decision making, creative thinking, technical competence, computer competence, personal development
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates will find employment in institutions and companies dealing with investment, engineering and design activities, in the apparatus of state administration and local government at the regional level, municipalities and cities but also in all departments and papers dealing with investments in supply companies, especially in marketing and training and procurement of buildings, the property owners and organizations engaged in property management (real estate agencies, large industrial enterprises, medium and high management of administrative and commercial centers, hospitals, government agencies, etc.).

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
