Summary
The subject follows physics lectures with the aim of deepening of basic physics knowledge in practical applications, especially in building physics.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Illustrate the achieved theoretical knowledge in physics with its practical applications, especially in civil engineering. Make the students acquainted with the operation of basic experimental apparatuses. Enable to measure selected physical quantities, compute dependent quantities and apply the simple statistical methods of measurement processing and evaluation.
Critically compare computed results with the tabulated ones or results determined by other methods.

I.Introduction to physical measurement and its processing
II. Practical measurements and their evaluation:
1. Young modulus: rod deflection
2. Thermal heat conductivity
3. Frequency measurement based on beats
4. Speed of sound
5. Surface tension
6. Specific heat capacity
7. Luminous intensity, flux and efficiency
8. Emissivity and thermal radiation measurement
9. Photoelectric effect: Electron work function
10. Radioactive radiation: intensity and absorption
