Summary
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Students will learn about the possibilities of using these materials, their advantages and on the contrary properties and factors limiting their practical use. Also included are wood-based materials and products. Wood is a typical representative of renewable resources and its products are historically among the most frequently used building materials.
Course Contents
Lectures: Introduction, definitions and terminology. Secondary raw materials. Fast-renewable raw materials. Current developments in the field of building materials. Legislation. Wood, wood products and waste. Cork. Stem materials. Insulating materials. Construction materials. Advantages and limitations of materials based on renewable raw materials. Composite materials. Degradation of materials from renewable raw materials. Testing methods.
