Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The study is designed for students interested in achieving a bachelor degree in the areas of ensuring and performing the tasks of the assessment of risks of possible hazards to the life or health of workers in various fields of human activities. Attention is also paid to labour inspection and to analyses of hazards and related risks of technological processes to implement of adequate preventive measures. In the curriculum mentioned courses are included at the beginning of the study, providing the necessary theoretical, technical and legal basis for the field. In other subjects the student receives the necessary input of labour and industrial hazards and risks. Specialization in the areas of search, evaluation and reduction of occupational risks, hazard and risk assessment of technological processes and to ensure adequate prevention is possible not only by changing the content of the compulsory subjects, induced the development of legislation and acquiring new knowledge, but also by the choice of appropriate curriculum options in the later years of study. This allows the student to profile in the occupational safety and health and or the safety processes.

Knowledge:
They show broad factual and theoretical knowledge in hazard identification and evaluation of occupational, health and technological risks, endangering the lives and health and the environment and cause considerable economic losses. They use selected methods and procedures and suggest preventive measures.
Skills:
They can use with utilization of the expertise knowledge to solve practical problems in the area occupational health and safety and technologies. They can find, organize and interpret information needed to solve specific practical problems.
General competencies:
They are able to become independent and responsible decisions to solve the specific requirements, to coordinate the team and be accountable for its results. They clearly communicate to both professionals and laymen about the nature of professional issues and their own views on their solution.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduate in the field of study Occupational and Process Safety is able to deal with the area of safety in the whole range of problems from the point of view of the state administration, employers and also private companies providing services in the OSH area. The students acquire both theoretical knowledge in the areas of occupational health and safety and, by means of case studies and short visits (practical training and instructional trips) needed practical skills too. The graduate will be prepared for dealing with the area of ensuring integral safety. The graduate can find their application particularly in the field of ensure occupational health and safety, checking of internal and external OSH management system, namely in enterprises and private companies, in government authorities dealing with checking activities, in insurance offices, in state and local administration and in number of other institutuions.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
