Informal learning - max. 60% of credits gained in prior lifelong learning can be recognized, as determined by the Dean of the Faculty.

Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Study safety engineering, preparing a comprehensive well-educated professionals with deep knowledge of certain industry or government, able to correctly assess the potential need in various fields, for the purpose of implementing and maintaining a systematic strategy and measures to prevent major accidents, analysis and risk assessment and occupational health and safety. Graduates are able to develop security policy and contribute to the work of the senior management of companies or enterprises in industry and public administration bodies and local authorities.

Knowledge:
It demonstrates the broad and deep factual and theoretical knowledge in the field of security management, to implement the use of systems, methods and appropriate contemporary state of knowledge and requirements of the EU. Understand the theories and methods used to ensure adequate safety in enterprises, companies and institutions.
Skills:
Can using the expertise of self-define and creatively solve theoretical and practical problems concerning the assessment, assurance and safety management in industrial enterprises also institutions. Independently and creatively can solve a complex problem, making use of selected theories, concepts and methods for security engineering
General competencies:
They are able to independently and responsibly to decide on new or changing contexts, both legislative and technical. By developing relationships and resources available to define the terms of reference for specialized activities in analysis and risk assessment, prevention of major accidents and OSH management system, is to coordinate and take responsibility for their results.Clearly and persuasively communicate both professionals and the general public's own expert opinion..
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates are able to formulate safety policies and to participate in work of top management in companies, industrial enterprises and bodies of state administration and self-administration. They may find positions as heads of departments for the risk assessment and the safety checks especially of large complex or hazardous equipment systems; as co-ordinators and heads of safety sections in central and local authorities, in insurance offices and inspectorates of OSH and quality check; as advisors and consultants in authorities of hygiene service, security service, engineering companies concentrated on risk assessment, advisory bodies of state and local administration, labour unions, research institutes,.

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
