Summary
The course introduces Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as a broad multidisciplinary field focusing on management of occupational risks which may harm the employee´s health or impair their well-being. It acquaints students with the basic principles and foundations of OSH, which are applied in the effective management of health and safety at work. It presents selected practical aspects of OSH, whose knowledge and the ability to implement into practice are among the key competencies of OSH professionals.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- Apply key principles of OSH into practice
- Propose OSH policies and programs
- Explain the causation of occupational injuries and diseases
- Use systematic approach to occupational risk assessment and control
- Apply knowledge of legislation, standards and good practice in key areas of OSH
