Summary
Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is focused on deepening and broadening the knowledge in the field of national defense, obtaining information about the security environment, rights and obligations arising from the Czech Republic's membership in international security and political-military organizations, the principles of national defense and the role of the Czech Armed Forces in defense. state and in dealing with crises of a non-military nature, familiarize pupils with the obligations of the citizens of the Czech Republic to defend the state.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of ensuring the defense of the Czech Republic with an emphasis on state defense planning at the level of state authorities and local government bodies, including basic rules and principles of international security policy. Students will acquire broad knowledge and skills in the areas discussed, so that they can find, sort and interpret information for solving defined practical problems from the above mentioned issues.
Course Contents
1. Security environment, security as a guarantee of prosperity, concepts and definitions.
2. Factors shaping international political relations in security, their participants.
3. State as the main subject of international relations and foreign policy of the state.
4. International conflicts - genesis, development, consequences, international order and determinants of change.
5. Global threats and dilemmas, bipolar system, development of international relations after the Cold War.
6. Overview of traditional international political relations having an impact on the defense of the Czech Republic.
7. Regulations, strategic and conceptual documents of national defense, international humanitarian law.
8. Involvement of the Czech Republic in international organizations and its importance for national security. UN, NATO, EU, OSCE, EUROPOL, SCHENGEN and their importance for the defense of the Czech Republic.
9. Armed Forces of the Czech Republic in the security system of the state, division, tasks and possibilities of deployment.
10. Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, Army of the Czech Republic, management and division, military service of professional soldiers.
11. Military duty and advance of the armed forces, reserve soldier, military exercises.
12. Humanitarian missions and military operations abroad.
13. Obligations of state authorities and bodies of territorial self-governing units in defense.
