Summary
The course is aimed at gaining an overview of the use of GIS applications in security engineering in modelling selected real-world problems. The graduate is able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge when designing the GIS applications in practical operations of crisis management or in other areas of safety engineering.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The course is aimed at gaining an overview of the use of GIS applications in security engineering in modelling selected real-world problems. Course Contents
1. Introduction to GIS
2. Use of GIS for solving spatial analytical tasks.
3. Network analysis. Resource allocation and path search.
4. Planning the location of IRS stations and intervention areas.
5. Modeling and visualization of floods.
6. Modeling of hazardous substances propagation in the atmosphere.
7. Information support of dispatching workplaces of IRS units.
8. Role of GIS in emergency call centers and operational management of Integrated Rescue System.
9. Application of GIS to support interventions of IRS units.
10. Specific applications of GIS for the work of security forces (search, prediction of crime,…).
11. Use of global navigation and positioning systems for data collection and navigation.
12. Application of mobile GIS technologies.
13. Satellite imagery and systems for rapid response by satellite imaging in emergency and crisis situations.
