Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VŠB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
Study in the degree programme follows the Bachelor’s degree programme Fire Protection and Industrial Safety or another related Bachelor’s degree programme that respects the requirements of Common Minimum Standards for the Education of Specialists in the Area of Safety and Security (adopted by a resolution of the National Security Council No. 32 of 3 July 2007). The degree programme includes four fields of study. Other specialization of students in the framework of individual fields is possible by means of selection of compulsorily optional and optional subjects when drawing up personal study plans. The degree programme Fire Protection and Industrial Safety is typically multidisciplinary; curricula consist of subjects of theoretical, scientific and technical foundations of individual fields of study and subjects of the fields of study covering compulsory, compulsorily optional and optional subjects. Study in the degree programme is designed so that graduates are able to either enter practice or continue studying a doctoral degree programme Fire Protection and Industrial Safety or another related doctoral degree programme.

Knowledge:
Broad and deep knowledge and comprehension of theoretical and scientific foundations of the degree programme, national security policy, safety and security policy of organization or other units, risk analysis procedures, legal modifications, modifications to regulations and standards in the studied area according to the selected field of study, psychological aspects of safety and security, software products to support risk analysis, risk prevention, and communication and computer control systems. Broad and deep knowledge of theories, concepts, methods and limitations concerning hazard identification and risk analysis, control and communication. Broad and deep knowledge of theories, concepts, methods and limitations concerning the ensuring and control of safety and security in the area of the given field of study, i.e. fire safety, civil protection, civil emergency preparedness, firefighting, coping with other extraordinary events and natural disasters, major accident prevention, occupational safety and environmental safety in general, safety of technologies and technological processes, ensuring of engineering and regime safety of persons and property.
Skills:
The graduate from the degree programme is able, by using professional knowledge, to define independently and to solve creatively theoretical and practical problems of safety and security policy of a certain organizational entity, hazard identification and risk analysis, prevention and communication. Using chosen theories, concepts and methods of the fields in the framework of the degree programme he/she can independently and creatively solve a comprehensive problem of safety and security in the area corresponding to the field of study pursued, it means e.g. a fire safety design proposal for complicated and atypical structures, proposal for a comprehensive system of preventive measures to eliminate OSH risks, proposal for area fire service deployment , determination of procedures for coping with complicated extraordinary events, prevention of major accidents, crisis and emergency plan preparation, engineering and regime safety design for buildings, etc. He/she is able to use some advanced research practices in the area of safety and security to acquire new original information.
General competencies:
Graduates from the degree programme are able to make independent and responsible decisions in the case of new or changing connections and in a basically developing environment with reference to broader social consequences of decision making. They are able to define, on the basis of developing connections and available resources, assignments to professional activities, to coordinate them, to bear final responsibility for their results, to plan, to support and manage using the theoretical knowledge of the field the acquiring of other professional knowledge, skills and competence of other members of the team, to summarize comprehensibly the opinions of other team members. They are able to solve independently the ethical problem. Graduates from the degree programme are further able to communicate clearly and convincingly their own opinions to professionals and also the broad public, to use their professional knowledge, skills and general competence in at least one foreign language.

Graduates will be able to occupy positions related to safety and security management and ensuring in the public and also private sectors. Specific job possibilities are given by the completed field of study in the framework of the degree programme.
