The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The study program responds to the growing demand for professionals who are able to organize and manage systems related to security operations and the protection of people throughout human life. Activities. The aim of the proposed study program is to prepare professionals who are able to take technical and organizational measures to protect against risks arising from business-related activities. activities, but also from external influences of an intentional and unintentional nature. The study focuses on industrial safety, in particular occupational health, fire protection, and the protection and safety of the enterprise. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to work as a professional in the field of complex safety solutions, especially in the area of industry, but also in government organizations.

Knowledge:
Upon completion of the Safety and Security (SaS) program, the student will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge: - Demonstrate knowledge of security policy, describe, declare and explain how security can be ensured while maintaining the continuity of the organization's operations. - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the links in complex security based on the ability to analyze and identify risks. - Understand the complexity of working conditions, process safety, and continuity of operations of an organization and have the ability to relate health and safety, socio-economic, political, physical, and environmental vulnerabilities.
Skills:
Upon completion of the SaS program, the student will be able to: - Design measures and procedures for incident prevention, taking into account technical, ethical and social problems. - Implement measures and activities aimed at reducing risk. - Apply adequate methods to theoretical and practical problems in the field of security policy based on scientific approaches and modern practice. - Identify risks and propose adequate prevention and risk reduction based on evidence. - Participate in the resolution of accidents and incidents and implement the results obtained from investigations.
General competencies:
- He/she is able to use inductive methods of reasoning, interpretation of results based on limited information and which he/she is able to generalize for the needs of solving specific problems and tasks. - Is capable of deductive reasoning in order to specify solutions based on general information about the problem. - Able to communicate effectively with security, planning, and operations stakeholders (including public authorities and local government). - Proficient in communication techniques - presentations, self-presentation, interviewing, and conducting meetings. - Is familiar with Internet resources for educational purposes, using advanced modern communication technologies. Is naturally connected to the professional community and ready to share information with the professional public.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The student will find employment in both the public and private sectors, where there is a requirement for a worker capable of organizing and providing an appropriate level of security: - The graduate is an expert in the field of occupational safety, fire protection, and safety management - He is prepared for positions in the field of safety in national and multinational companies (in small, medium and large enterprises, state and private business organizations) where there is a requirement to be involved in safety management.

Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
