Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.

The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
This course is based on the study of the basics of electrical engineering branches. Besides this basis, the student chooses a specialized courses in the sphere of applied electronics. Much emphasis is put on a highly effective education in order to teach the students to think creatively and apply new knowledge in practice. The instruction is focused on the practical element, which the students put into practice when drawing up interesting Bachelor’s theses.

Knowledge:
The graduates have a broad knowledge and understanding of the technical fields of applied electronics. Further, they have extensive knowledge of theory, concepts and methods of the branch, and understand the possibilities, conditions and limitations of the application of theory, concepts and methods of the branch in practice. During the studies, the students in Applied Electronics acquire the necessary knowledge of mathematics, physics, theoretical electrical engineering, measurement technology, electrical power engineering, cybernetics, mechatronic systems and information technology. Further, they gain special knowledge in applied electronics, microprocessor technology, semiconductor power systems and electric regulated drives.
Skills:
The graduates in Applied Electronics are able to deal with practical problems in the sphere of applied electronics on the basis of a generally defined task. The graduates can search, sort out and interpret the relevant information to solve a defined practical problem and they can apply some of the elementary research procedures of this branch in the division necessary to solve practical problems.
General competencies:
The graduates are able to make independent and responsible decisions on the basis of a general assignment in less-well-known contexts. On the basis of a general assignment, they can coordinate the operation of a team and bear responsibility for its results. They are able to consider the ethical aspects of the given problem. They can comprehensibly sum up the opinions of other team members and use their professional knowledge, expert skills and general qualifications in at least one foreign language. They acquire further professional knowledge, skills and qualifications on the basis of practical experience, which they can supplement with individual study of theoretical findings.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduates in Applied Electronics will find employment in the planning departments of various companies and businesses, designing electronic applications in the fields of control technology, semiconductor power systems, electric regulated drives, measurement technology, etc., or as managers, designers of electrotechnical equipment, etc. They can work at companies with electrotechnical production, in the management of technological processes at production organizations, or in maintenance and repair operations.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
