Informal learning - max. 60% of credits gained in prior lifelong learning can be recognized, as determined by the Dean of the Faculty.

Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The Bachelor’s course of Computer Science and Technology provides the students with an education designed to help them find employment mainly in the field of creation and administration of various software products, computer systems and networks, production of computers and their components, and finally, among others, in the field of business and education. Apart from the knowledge which ensures very good chances of employment in practice, the students are educated in basic theoretical areas as well. The graduates can continue to study the course within the Master’s programme of the same name, which further develops both the theoretical and practical knowledge.

Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
The graduate possesses the knowledge of the following most significant areas of computer science and can apply them in practice: algorithm development and programming, computer construction, operational systems, formation of computer networks, software engineering, creation of database and information systems, creation of web applications, and creation of applications for mobile equipment. The graduate is able to analyse simple problems in the above mentioned areas. The graduate possesses the knowledge of the so-called soft skills area and can apply it in practice. The graduate also understands the most important parts of basic theoretical subjects, such as mathematics, discrete mathematics, and theoretical informatics.
Skills:
The graduates can independently design and implement pieces of work of a smaller scope (software and hardware products, computer systems, computer networks), especially using the known and proven procedures and technology. They can understand the issues of extensive systems, and as members of problem solving teams, they can independently implement their individual parts. They can substantiate and document the chosen problem-solving procedures. They can administer smaller software and hardware systems and computer networks. They can draw up extensive texts, especially texts specifying the intended and implemented solutions.
General competencies:
When dealing with problems, the graduates can communicate with people, e.g. with customers when specifying the tasks and handing over products, or with other team members. They can independently choose alternative solutions in simple cases. They can present and defend their opinions and chosen solutions. They can study foreign technical texts, especially in English. They can educate themselves in the given branch.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduates can find employment both as operating and managerial workers in various areas such as the creation and administration of various software products, creation of software products for mobile equipment, creation of web presentations, creation and administration of computer systems, and creation and administration of computer networks.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
