Summary
Students should describe cummunication transmissiom media, classify them and discuss their advantages and disadvantages. Second part focuses on communication systems using those media.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Students will be able to describe quantitatively and qualitatively communication media and systems, which uses those media.
Course Contents
1. History of telecommunications.
2. Transmission wires and cables.
3. Telegraphic formula, input and output impedance.
4. Hommogenous metallic wire.
5. Frequency characteristics of metallic wires.
6. Localisation of imperfections.
7. Metallic wire in the communication systems.
8. High frequency systems. Modulations AM, FM, PM.
9. Digital data transmission – sampling, quantisation, coding A-law G.711, µ-law. Modulations PSK, QPSK, QAM, PAM, PPM, PWM, Delta modulation a ADPCM.
10. Time division multiplex, demultiplex. PCM, PDH.
11. Optical fiber data transmission.
12. Wavelength division multiplex..
13. Optical atmospheric and radion transmission.
14. Radio and mobile communications.
