Summary
The course deals with a comprehensive overview of the sensors used in the field of protection of buildings: the perimeter protection, the protection of the shell, space protection. Below are the contents of camera surveillance systems, sensors for control inputs, sensors environment and the legislative aspects of the implementation of sensors for alarm and emergency systems.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
After completing the subject students get familiar with the principles of sensors functionality in the field of building safety in terms of protection against fire, for the protection of the building and its surroundings against attack. Students gain an overview of the use of sensors for biometric scanning of persons for the purpose of identification and people recognition. Students will be able to use knowledge about sensors principle and functionality for the design of surveillance systems for ensuring the safety of buildings.
Course Contents
1. Legislative aspects of the sensors design for security and emergency systems in buildings in the Czech Republic and Europe. Basic terminology in the design and implementation of sensors for security and emergency systems in buildings.
2. Passive perimeter sensors (vibration sensors, strain gauge sensors, systems guarding wire fence, microphone cables, differential pressure sensors, seismic sensors, magnetic anomalies sensors, fiber optic systems sensor, infrared thermovosion detectors).
3. Active perimeter sensors (burried cables, infrared gates and barriers, active infrared gates, laser gates and locators, microwave detectors, combined detectors, capacitive sensors, reflective detectors of electric field changes).
4. Sensors protecting building envelope (contact sensors, destructive sensors, destructive effects sensors, acoustic pressure sensors, barrier sensors)
5. Area protection sensors (motion sensors, very short wave sensors, microwave sensors, ultrasonic sensors, passive infrared sensors, active infrared sensors, combined sensors). Object protection sensors (contact, capacitive, acoustic pressure sensors, sensor barrier).
6. Sensors for CCTV (survey scanning techniques, principles of image sensor CCD / CMOS, lenses, camera accessories, IP camera systems, digitalization of TV image, digital CCTV systems, setup and configuration).
7. Entry sensors, biometric sensors for persons identification and recognition (fingerprint and palm sensors, proximity sensors, facial recognition sensors, scanning of iris and retina, keyboard pressing dynamics, speaker voice recognition, recognition of speaker emotions).
8. Environment sensors (external and internal building climate, carbon dioxide sensors, explosive gases, temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed sensors)
9. Building Fire safety sensor (principles of automatic detectors, classification according to the coverage area, according to the response time, implementation of sensors, unaddressed systems, conventional addressable systems, sensors location in buildings).
10. Aspects of the use of sensors in building management bus systems (KNX, LonWorks, BACnet) in relation to security applications.
