Summary
The course is aimed at training biomedical engineers for solving clinical problems and real demonstration possible situations in everyday medical use.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The goal is to acquire advanced knowledge and practical skills of biomedical engineer which easier the emergence and integration into the medical team of hospital. Skills and knowledge in this subject and the focus creates a presumption of knowledge of basic biomedical engineer.
Course Contents
Lectures

1. Who´s clinical engineer - the history and development of clinical engineering role in a medical facility. Positions in the medical team related duties, tasks and responsibilities. Instrumentation equipment, tools and equipment the CI.
2. Classification by clinical engineer expertise. KI explanations specificity of tasks in the department. Quality Growth and development team.
3. Quality management and strategic planning, procurement, maintenance, life cycle of medical devices. Basic safety and performance of medical electrical equipment - Risc Management. ISO 9001 from the perspective of a clinical engineer
4. Health maintenance strategy planning techniques. Leadership and management documentation. Legislative context and links to European and global standards.
5. Metrology in the field of medical instrumentation. Testing, verifying the functionality and accuracy of medical instrumentation using professional testers.
6. Patient Security and handling, working with non-recurring funds, work in septic and aseptic environment. Decontamination and disposal of medical instrumentation. Safety use of ionizing radiation sources in diagnostics and therapy.
7. The influence of environment on medical devices (ISO 332140), graphical symbols for use on equipment, safety principles and guidelines for man-machine interface (IEC 60417, IEC60445, EN 60445, IEC 60447).
8. EMC, radiation protection at the source of ionizing radiation - ionizing radiation sources (EN 60601-1-3, EN 60601-1-2) .
9. Technique operating rooms and lobby. Definition, distribution and storage of medicinal gases, rules for the operation of pressure vessels.
10. The technique of demanded pay medical and intensive care units. Gases used in healthcare, their physicochemical properties, effects on humans.
11. Technique of diagnostic centers
12. The technique of therapeutic and rehabilitation centers
13. Electrosurgical instruments and equipment
14. The technique of biochemical and hematological laboratory. Analyzers

Laboratory Exercises
1. Practical training in the department of medical technology to solve real problems from the infusion of technology.
2. Practical training in the department of medical technology to solve real problems in monitoring technology.
3. Practical training in the department of medical technology to solve real problems in ventilation.
4. Practical training in the department of medical technology to solve real problems in electrosurgical technique.
5. Techniques of diagnostic ultrasound - ultrasonography
6. Practical training in medical instrumentation resuscitation and ICU, radiodiagnostics, radiotherapy and oncology.
7. Practical exercises on the technique of operating rooms and the foyer, storage, distribution and labeling of medicinal gases. Rules for operating pressure vessels.
8. Practical exercises on the technique of diagnostic centres.
9. Practical exercises on therapeutic and rehabilitation centres.
10. Practical exercises on a biochemical and haematological laboratories.
11. Practical exercises on a per-operating and operational navigation systems.
12. Practical exercises on the technique of using imaging methods.
13. Data communication and data exchange environment and data storage for radiodiagnostic and radiotherapeutic scopes. DICOM PACS, NIS.
14. Solutions to the real situation in the Department of medical technology in the maintenance, repair or testing of the medical instrumentation.
