Summary
The subject is intended for students of technical or economic orientation or humanities. Students will be introduced to the soft skills with a focus on self-management and diagnostics (charting their own strengths and weaknesses), effective communication and career planning.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- Definition of the soft skills and their professional development opportunities
- Basic time-management
- Development of the communication skills including training of selected communication techniques (presentation, self-presentation, negotiation with the client)
- Identifying own strengths and weaknesses based on diagnosis
- Preparation for a tender
Course Contents
1. Soft skills – meaning, description, development possibilities.
2. Structured CV - content, form, trends.
3. Motivation letter – structure and content.
4. Self-management – developing self-management skills.
5. Time management - developing the ability to plan, follow a plan and deadlines.
6. Communication skills – communication scheme, phases of communication, types of communication.
7. Non-verbal communication – function, analysis of basic signals, adjustment of space for communication.
8. Verbal communication – interview, principles of effective communication.
9. Communication techniques – presentation, self-presentation.
10. Dealing with the client – tactical aspects of dealing with the client, managing manipulative approaches.
11. Career planning – diagnosis (career type, team roles, self-knowledge - Belbin, etc.).
12. Preparation for the recruitment – organization, assessment center, model situations.
13. Managing stress and workload, work-life balance.
