Profile of the Programme |
---|
(in full-time mode of study only) The new industrial revolution that is characterized by the onset of complex solutions from the fields of automation, robotics and digitization is a global technological trend nowadays (Industrials 4.0).
The interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programme called Computer systems for the industry of the 21st century, which is focused on computer systems as a result of the interdisciplinary interactions of networks of physical and computing elements, is designed to cope with these emerging trends in their full extent. These computer systems are becoming the basis of critical infrastructure that forms the basis for new and future smart services that will fundamentally change the industry and lifestyle of future generations.
The bachelor's degree study programme, offered only in the form of full-time study, results from the need to handle this interdisciplinary conception, which represents not only the unification of the existing degree programmes focused on informatics and parts of degree programmes focused on electrical engineering, but particularly the innovations dictated by technological progress. FEI VSB-TU Ostrava is the only faculty in the Czech Republic today that brings together leading university departments focused on informatics as well as on electrical engineering and electronics, which means unique conditions for the quality of the studies in this degree programme.
Throughout the bachelor's degree study programme, great emphasis is also placed on the communication skills of students in English and on the intense improvement of their soft skills in project-oriented teaching. This trend corresponds to the requirements placed on the graduates by their future employers.

Key Learning Outcomes |
---|
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies |
---|
Knowledge: |
---|
For students in this degree programme informatics means an effective tool for troubleshooting and the electrical engineering and electronics constitute the hardware foundation for developing and deploying computer systems in a number of application areas that will emerge in the digitally oriented world of the future.
The graduates have basic theoretical knowledge of the emerging smart technologies, based on the study of mathematics, physics, electronics, communication technology and informatics. On the basis of this knowledge, during their studies the students can also acquire experience of project-oriented solutions to comprehensive structured problems faced during the study programme. These preparatory lessons enable them either to set up their own company for the development of new computer systems that are part of the upcoming digital world or to get involved in the project teams of existing firms.
|
Skills: |
---|
The graduate is able independently to design and implement works on a smaller scale, especially when using known and proven processes and technologies. He understands the problems of extensive systems and as a member of a research team is able to independently implement their individual parts. He is able to justify and document the procedures that were selected to attain solutions. He is also able to elaborate more extensive texts, especially those texts describing the intended solutions or already-implemented solutions. |
General competencies: |
---|
The graduate is able to communicate with experts in solving problems, e.g. with customers in the specification of the assignment and handover of the product or with other team members. In simpler cases he is able individually to choose alternative solutions and is able to present and defend his views and the procedures selected for the solution. He is able to study professional texts in foreign languages, especially in English, and is able to continue in further education in his field. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
---|
For the digitally oriented industry of the 21st century, graduates from this study programme are equipped with knowledge and experience acquired during their project-oriented studies and on the basis of this "equipage" can become members of project teams at the level of job positions in developers and manufacturers of advanced software and hardware tools, or can start their own business by founding innovative companies that come up with new solutions in the design and application of systems that monitor and collect data from physical industrial processes and provide global access to this data and thus in a decisive way expand the functionality and competitiveness of manufacturing companies. Once these systems have been connected to the virtual environment of globally interconnected services and information systems, a new era of innovations in industry has been opened and it offers original platforms for business. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
