Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VŠB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The study programme concentrates on technical and inventive skills. Graduates will be able to individually analyse various tasks, propose alternative solutions for project documentation, communicate various aspects of the project with the customer and implementers, create their own project documentation using the specified SW platform, and present and defend a project at all stages of its completion. In the case of implementation, graduates will be able to manage the construction of a project, commission the technology, ensure service activities, and train the operators. After completing the prescribed practice and receiving the authorisation, graduates will also be capable of working as authorised engineers with all competencies.

- In addition to broad knowledge and skills in the area of electrical engineering utilised for the design and modern planning of electrical equipment, graduates of this study programme know the context and are able to apply ‘a certain level of knowledge of cybernetics, control systems and telecommunications, computer science and electronics; - in these areas, they are able to analyse problems, especially as regards the identification and prevention of risks, dimensioning, and measurements, as well as safety; - they can also apply their knowledge of legislation and state and public administration, as well as ‘soft skills’; - during their studies, graduates will have been trained to react with technical precision to topics that do not fall within the area that is studied, but are closely related to design and modern technologies; - graduates are therefore able to tackle practical tasks alone on the basis of an objective specified in broad terms, often while taking concurrent practical training.
Utilising their know-how, and on the basis of an objective that is specified in broad terms, graduates of this Master’s study programme are able to: - tackle practical problems in the branch; - retrieve, sort out and interpret the information that is relevant in tackling a practical problem, while using state-of-the-art knowledge; - utilise certain basic research methods to the extent necessary for tackling practical problems; - utilise the practical skills they have gained in prominent design and engineering organisations.
General competencies:
Graduates of this programme are able to: - make independent and responsible decisions even if they know just a part of the context and are given a framework task; - coordinate the activities of a team and take responsibility for its results in accordance with the task and resources allocated; - include an ethical dimension in the tackling of problems; - use straightforward and convincing language when informing experts and laymen alike of the nature of professional problems and their own opinion of the solutions; - summarise and present their own opinions and the opinions of other team members; - use their professional knowledge, skills and general competencies in at least one foreign language; - individually gain further professional knowledge, skills and competencies on the basis of practical experience and its assessment, but also through individual research on the issues; - use all available resources to ensure the safe implementation of a project while utilising knowledge and methods that correspond to the state of the art and valid legislation.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Successful graduates can offer their knowledge and skills to a wide range of employers, primarily: 1) engineering, design and development organisations; 2) building development organisations; 3) state and public administration organisations; 4) manufacturing and service organisations, incl. managerial and supervising posts. Graduates will also be able to offer their knowledge and skills as self-employed persons in the aforementioned areas, but also in the capacity of a supervising architect, an investor’s representative in administrative or other procedures, or when commissioning new technologies, etc.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VŠB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
