Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
---|
Qualification Requirements: |
---|
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam. |
Regulations: |
---|
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. |
Profile of the Programme |
---|
The aim of the study is to educate graduates
• with practical skills and basic theoretical background in applied physics,
• able to communicate with experts in other fields and work in a team,
• having basic skills in the required practice, such as communication, presentation, teamwork, and communication in English.
Graduates apply in companies and academic spheres, especially in solving interdisciplinary problems requiring physical view

Key Learning Outcomes |
---|
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies |
---|
Knowledge: |
---|
He/She demonstrates a broad knowledge and understanding of traditional and new technologies of materials preparation and processing using theories and methods of physics, applied mainly to the analysis of material defects, surfaces, preparation of new materials, their processing and modelling, and he/she is aware of the limitations that these applications bring. |
Skills: |
---|
Based on the framework of the task, he/she can use the expertise to solve physical problems arising during production and application of technological processes.
In solving problems, he/she is able to use measurement, analytical and numerical methods, find, sort and interpret necessary information, and combine physics research procedures with practices common in technical practice.
|
General competencies: |
---|
The graduate is able to decide independently and responsibly and, according to the resources allocated, to participate in the coordination of the teams' activities, to communicate in a clear and convincing way both with experts and laymen to inform them about professional problems and his/her own opinion and solution suggestions.
He/she is ready to be engaged into practice wherever you need specialists dealing with physical applications in the field of materials and technology, developing new sensors, sensors or devices based on optical or magnetic elements, nuclear physics issues, development and production of diagnostic and defectoscopic devices (ultrasonic, X-ray, optical, magnetic ...), etc.
He/she can also decide to continue studying in a follow-up Master's program and expand his/her education. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
---|
The graduates of the bachelor study program Applied Physics find their place in the research laboratories of companies, research institutes, universities and institutes of the Academy of Sciences. Appropriate applications include science research teams of companies involved in the development of new materials, instruments, machines and technologies. Graduates have prerequisites to hold management and leadership functions, both in companies engaged in the production of materials, their refining, machining and application in downstream production or their secondary processing (recycling), as well as in companies focusing on the production of electronic, optical and magnetic sensors, sensors and other components for industrial or commercial use. Graduates are employed from the automotive and aviation industry, through electro-technical or pharmaceutical, to nuclear power engineering.
Because the graduate has a broad theoretical physical basis, he will find employment in virtually any area after completing the knowledge of the relevant industrial specialization.
