Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The aim of the Master's degree program is the training of specialists, who develop their abilities for independent creative work with bachelors graduates. Further study of theoretical and applied subjects according to the study plan and elaboration of the diploma thesis, the student will demonstrate the ability to apply creatively the knowledge of the studied program. The quality of teaching in the Master's degree program in Applied Electronics will be evaluated by the number of successful graduates of the study program and their application in practice. The study program consists of applied mathematics, electronics theory, analog technology, digital technology, microprocessor technology, control and power electronics. The theoretical foundations are followed by subjects with practical focus in the area of construction of industrial electronics equipment and application of power semiconductor systems in the field of power systems and electric controlled drives.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
The graduates have a broad and deep knowledge in the technical fields of this branch that corresponds to the current state of the art. They understand the state-of-the-art theories, concepts and methods of the branch. They are able to apply the knowledge from the related branches in their own branch. During the course of study, the student in Applied Electronics acquires the necessary knowledge of mathematics, theory of electrical circuits, information technology, and special knowledge in the following technical fields: • Applied Electronics • Analogue and Digital Electronic Circuits • Microprocessor Technology • Semiconductor Power Systems • Electric Regulated Drives • Optoelectronics • Measurement Technology • Audiovisual Technology • Construction of Electronic Devices
Using their expert knowledge, the graduates in Applied Electronics are able to independently define and creatively deal with a practical or theoretical problem within the branch. They can solve complex problems independently and creatively, using selected theories, concepts and methods of the branch, and apply some of the advanced research procedures of the branch to obtain new, original information.
General competencies:
The graduates in Applied Electronics are able to make independent and responsible decisions in new or changing contexts of the individual technical fields of the branch, considering the broader social consequences of the decisions. Further, they are able to determine assignments of professional activities from available sources, they can coordinate them and bear responsibility for the results. They can convincingly communicate their own expert opinions to professionals and the public, use their professional knowledge, expert skills and general qualifications in at least one foreign language. Using the theoretical findings of the branch, they can plan, support and manage the acquisition of further professional knowledge, skills and qualifications of other team members.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The graduates will find employment at designing institutes, in research and development departments, developing electronic applications in the field of control technology, semiconductor power systems, electric regulated drives, measurement technology, audiovisual technology, as managers, designers of electronic devices, researchers and developers, etc. They can work at companies with electrotechnical production, in the management of technological processes at production organizations, or in maintenance and repair operations.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
