Summary
The course introduces to students the basics of working with a personal computer. It introduces to students the hardware of the computer, the operating system, the basic application programs and the basic principles of the INDUSTRY 4.0 concept.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Acquired knowledge:
• Student will understand the principles of working with application software.
• The student will be able to characterize the basic parts of the computer and the principles of computer work.
• The student will understand and will be oriented to current trends in IT development.
• Students will understand the basics of higher programming languages and the way of solving technical problems using the algorithm transferred to a higher programming language.

Obtained skills:
• Student will be able to use PC for normal work in his study.
• The student will be able to use the Windows operating system features.
• The student will be able to use the advanced features and analytical tools that are contained in the Office Office suite so that the computer becomes a tool for technical and scientific work for the student.
• Student can design, implement and debug simple programs in a higher programming language.
Course Contents
1. Introduction to the subject. Modern Computer Concept, Neumann Computer Architecture, Harvard Architecture.
2. Basic hardware components of a personal computer, computer communication with the operator.
3. Developments and concepts of modern processors, trends in memory module development, external memory, hard drives, optical drives.
4. Modern peripherals, displays, printers, scanners, plotters.
5. Operating system and basic system hardware of the computer, BIOS, kernel, application interface.
6. Application software, basic user application program packages.
7. Advanced text editor features usable in technical and scientific practice.
8. Table Processor as a Tool of Technology and Scientist.
9. Scientific-technical calculations, numerical and solution-oriented optimization, analytical tools, tools for statistical processing and data analysis.
10. Algorithm properties, notation and description of algorithms. Algorithmic complexity.
11. Problem solving techniques. Design and implementation of algorithms.
12. Top-Down, Bottom-Up, Modular Programming, Object-Based Programming Methods.
13. Principles of higher programming languages.
14. Industry 4.0 Concept.
