Specific Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning
Informal learning - max. 60% of credits gained in prior lifelong learning can be recognized, as determined by the Dean of the Faculty.

Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Programme
The program of study is oriented primarily (not exclusively) on the sphere of direct management of company (especially production) processes in metallurgical, chemical and engineering industries. Rational economic and managerial decision-making in this sphere is supported by linking the interpretation of economic, management and industrial technologies. Emphasis is placed on the functioning of quality management system, on management system of production equipment maintenance, development, operation and maintenance of automated production process elements management and on the use of modern information technologies. Significant attention is paid to human factors in production processes - in terms of managed and managing employees, their competences and communication skills.

Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry) to the extent necessary to understand the economic, managerial and technological concept of the study programme. - Principles of industrial, especially metallurgical, chemical, engineering technologies, and materials engineering. - Business economics, financial and managerial accounting, management and its fundamental areas, human factor in company systems. - Theory of probability and mathematical statistics required for the practical application of the basic methods and tools of the quality management, basic principles of quality management systems and their implementation and maintenance. - Theory and ways of measurement and automatic control facilities, identification methods and work with computer technique and with facilities of automatic technique for technological processes control.
Skills:
- Planning and management of fundamental company (especially production) processes and areas on the tactical and operational level in a defined stage of its course, application of the tools from financial and economic analysis. - Application of the basic methods and tools for the quality planning and continual process improvement when analysing the nonconformities and searching for the improvement opportunities. - Higher technical activity in the field of analysis, designs, realization and control of operation and maintenance of automated systems of the company with of modern computer tools.
General competencies:
General competences within the scope defined by the national descriptors of the Czech qualifications framework with an emphasis on communication skills, management and organizational skills, ability to communicate in at least one foreign language, etc.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
First-line and middle management of company (especially production) processes, specialized functions and departments focused on technical economic and economics. Quality technicians, resp. middle level managers in various production, service or public service organizations. Technical and also managerial functions in operation and maintenance of control systems sections, computer systems, computer networks and information indemnity of company operation in industrial and administrative sphere.

Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
Course block: Optional - student can choose any course from the list of courses.
 
IMPORTANT: Student has to select so many courses to reach 30 ECTS credits per semester. Rules in detail and convenient selection of courses can be consulted with the programmme director.
Bellow stated courses are assigned for the degree studies only. Students coming to VSB-TUO for an exchange stay must select courses from the List of courses for exchange students.
