Profile of the Programme
The main aims of the study can be formulated as follows: • Obtaining knowledge in natural science and applied subjects, which will provide a sufficiently theoretical approach to problems in profile subjects. • Obtaining relevant knowledge and skills in the field of theory of modern production technology of iron and steel, its processing and casting, subsequent forming, including the forging of non-ferrous metals and also in the field of casting of various metals and alloys. • Preparation of bachelor’s degree students as a metallurgical experts, technologist, etc. capable of technically and organizationally managing the above mentioned areas. • Obtaining general competencies corresponding to the bachelor degree - soft skills, language skills, teamwork skills, presentation of results, etc.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
The absolvent will be able: • to explain the ironmaking and steelmaking, foundry technology of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, metal forming, • to use the methods of statistic and to characterize the basic principles of using of heat energy in plant, • on appropriate level, to use the modern methods of numerical modelling of technologies, such as casting, forming, • to demonstrate the knowledge of the impact of metallurgical production on the environment.
Skills:
The absolvent will be able: •to solve the problems related with the ironmaking and steelmaking, with foundry technology anf the metal forming technology, •on appropriate level, to use the basic methods of experimental research, •to use the statistical methods and method of numerical modelling of processes.
General competencies:
Absolvent will be able to use the so-called soft skills. During the study, the access to foreign language is to disposition. Also, the presentation technics will be improved.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
The absolvent can work such as: • Technologist in ironmaking and steelmaking plant • Foundry metallurgist • Forging specialist • Sales manager • Project Manager The main employers belong: steel plants, foundries, forging plants, rolling mills, tool shops, metallography laboratories, research centres and metallurgical institutes. Currently, the number of absolvents of this study program does not able to cover the request of market (graduates are highly requested).
