Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished secondary education with secondary school-leaving exam.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Bachelor field of study „Design of Machines and Equipment" is aimed on preparation to profession and to study in master study programme. Modern knowledge and methods of education are used. Theoretic knowledge and practical expiriences are in necessary range hand down to students. Contens of study and its arrangement of special and profiling subjects warrants to students wide and all-round education in the area of dimensioning and design of particular machine components including of the total technical, and structural design of choice production machines and machinery according to particular specializations. Theoretical part of education is efficiently supply by possibility to obtain also practical experiences, especially by graduation of excursion to the industrial companies and by elaborating of final work submission in close cooperation with practice. Integral part of education are also methods of computer design support with possibility use of modern computer equipment including laboratory methods of technical experiment. Study scheme is built-up, to be able to evolve first of all creative thinking and ability of prompt application of theoretic knowledge at solving practical technical-design problems of students.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
Graduates have corresponding knowledge not only in the area of theoretic subjects, but first of all in the field oriented on machine - building. They know function of basic machine components and have knowledge about basic principles and construction of chosen types of producing machines and equipment, about their operation and maintaining.
Skills:
They can actively use chosen computer programs for 2D and 3D applications of structural-design including creation of technical documentation. They know fundamental principles and skill in design and dimensioning of particular machine parts, constructional device and the whole machinery with respect of functionality, manufacturing technology, production cost and operation, industrial design principles including ecological viewpoint.
General competencies:
Knowledge getting in theoretic subjects they are able to exploit as starting background for practical engineering design of machine part, devicess and the whole machinery. Aim of study is preparation to profession and to study in master study programme. Aim is education of graduate, who had required theoretic knowledge and corresponding practical experience in a given study specialization, which they are able to actively apply either after entrance to the job at solving technical and design problems or in master study programme.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates find job in the area of projection, design as well as modernization of producing machines and equipment, respectively as operators of these equipment. They find job ewerywhere where bachelor mechanical engineering education is required. They are well prepared for master study in the area of construction and design of machines and equipment.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
