Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
The field covers the whole range of energy issues. It acquaints students with the energy concept of the Czech Republic and presents it as one of the pillars of the production of both electricity and heat in the Czech Republic, as well as energy in compressed media, its accumulation ... This will allow them to assess the choice of technology used in new energy sources according to the criterion of maximum energy efficiency and minimum harmful emissions. The cooperation of the Department of Energy of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with business companies, scientific workplaces and workplaces of cooperating universities both in the Czech Republic and abroad contributes to improving the quality of teaching. In this area, the Department of Power Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is at the forefront of all Czech universities. The cooperation is aimed at achieving a high professional level of students, providing excursions and internships and modern equipment of research laboratories. During the follow-up master's study program, the student gains a broad knowledge of energy transformation into electrical, thermal, pneumatic, ..., fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, combustion and knowledge of water management in energy, air protection and operation , regulation, diagnostics and maintenance in power engineering. By choosing from a range of compulsory elective courses, it focuses on its chosen specialization, increasing its expertise and skills.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
The aim of this field of study is to educate an engineer prepared for design, operation or management work in energy and environmental engineering and related fields. His expertise in strength calculations of machine parts, thermal calculations of flowing and transforming media results in the operation of power generation units such as boilers, turbines, compressors, power stations, internal combustion engines, ... with maximum efficiency. The other side of his expertise is accurate orientation in the latest PC programs, which he uses in the construction of new power components or complete power units.
Skills:
Students will acquire professional skills for economic and ecological management of the dominant part of the Czech energy industry. - Thermal energy equipment and industrial energy, heating, nuclear energy or the use of secondary energy sources, ... - Alternative energy equipment, environmental techniques, ventilation and air conditioning, alternative and renewable energy sources and energy recovery of biomass and waste. - Construction of steam boilers and thermal installations with thermal calculations, design and construction of steam boilers, materials and strength dimensioning of boiler parts or design methodology in the field. - Nuclear power equipment, including thermal and hydraulic calculations, design and construction of nuclear power plant components.
General competencies:
The aim of the study is to form a professional profile of a graduate who will work as a designer or. as an operator of energy facilities with knowledge of technical, economic and environmental categories. Graduates are eligible for: • in power engineering, development, design, construction, calculation, manufacturing, assembly and testing, • in power plant and heating plant operation management, • in the construction of thermal and nuclear energy, • in institutions, institutions and state administration departments dealing with energy, safety and environmental care, • for energy companies, including the possibility of self-employment (energy auditing, consulting and advisory services). Here they are able to further educate and educate their co-workers at workplaces, they are able to communicate with their superiors as well as with the employees they lead. An important part of their competence is the presentation of experience gained in professional circles.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates can obtain the EURING - EuroEngineering degree and can continue their doctoral studies in full-time or distance form. In the labor market, these graduates are extremely interested, graduates easily find employment and work well in practice, be it design, operation or management. At present, they also hold important positions in the management of large multinational companies such as executives, chairmen of boards of directors, boards of directors, etc.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
