Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Students of the branch Transport Equipment and Technology graduate with a base obtained in the bachelor study branch Transport Equipment and Technology (from the subjects Transport Theory and similar subjects) and apply knowledge from basic subjects (Mathematics, Physics, and other subjects) to transport equipment and technology conditions. Students are especially oriented on the specialization: Rail Transport, Road Transport, Transport Technology, Air Transport.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
Students will obtain theoretical knowledge in the field of Transport Equipment and Technology. The common basis specialized master's program focuses on the importance of engineering disciplines necessary to understand the basic functions of transport systems such as reliability of transport systems, operations and economics and possibilities of computer modeling. Students have the opportunity to focus on the following specializations : Rail Transport, Road Transport, Transport Technology, Air Transport. Within each specialization , students will also focus on the study of technical, technological and economic subjects relating to the relevant specialization.
Skills:
Specialization of Rail Transport is focused primarily on issues of movement and the construction of rail vehicles, knowledge in reliability and maintenance, operation of rail vehicles. Part of the study subjects are focused on the application of computer operations and information systems. Students will also receive basic knowledge in the field of transport economics, logistics, maintenance and transport business. Specialization of Road Transportis is focused primarily on the issue of driving and road construction vehicles, the technical operation of road vehicles and vehicle maintenance. Attention is also given to the operation and economics of road and urban transport, traffic engineering and road safety. Student gains basic knowledge of computer applications in service, maintenance, logistics and transport business. Specialization of Transport Technology is focused on deepening the knowledge of the principles of technological processes in transport and synthesis of mathematical modeling, optimization and simulation methods. Subjects are divided into three basic groups. The Traffic technological character -oriented on technology and management of railway transport, road traffic and urban transport and traffic engineering. Also included are subjects of mathematical and computer modeling, optimization and use of information technology. The third group consists of subjects focusing on the economics of transport, logistics and transport business. Specialization of air transport is focused primarily on deepening the knowledge of the principles of technological processes in transport and synthesis of mathematical modeling, optimization and unconventional methods. Study is aimed to explore the detailed issues of civil aviation security systems and air traffic management, airport operations, including issues of modern trends in their development, security management and human factors in civil aviation.
General competencies:
Study of the branch Transport Equipment and Technology is focused on preparing college-educated professionals who will be able to use engineering approaches to solving of problem. Graduates will find employment in a number of middle and senior operational, technical and economic positions.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates will find employment in the manufacturing and repair companies focused on means of transport, the management of operation and maintenance of vehicles. They may be employed by the operators of rail, road and air transport in the planning of transport and service processes across all transport modes. Graduates according to their specialization find employment in a number of middle and senior operational, technical and economic positions in rail, road and air transport, in the transport department of regional and municipal authorities as well as in the central state administration.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
