Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Qualification Requirements:
Finished higher education in Bachelor's degree programme.
Regulations:
The Czech educational system is regulated by the Higher Education Act (Act 111/1998). Studies at VSB-TUO are regulated by the Statute of VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Profile of the Branch
Branch Design and Process Engineering consists of six specializations. These specializations cover an area of a design and calculations both machines and their parts and groups. Besides this fundamental area problems of machine drives both mechanical and hydraulic or pneumatic are studied in this branch. It is possible to acquire knowledge of a transport and materials handling, earthwork and construction machines. Maintenance and diagnostic problems are considering for all of these machinery. The all study is highly competent and the latest findings are applied in. Top procedures and optimization methods are used for designing and calculations. The usage of latest 3D CAD applications and FEM systems is a matter of fact. Branch graduates will learn to manage these instruments on a professional level. They will carry out designs of machines and their parts with regard to their loading capacity and a demanded service life. They will become engineers in an individual specialization but at the same time their knowledge will be satisfactory in order to work as designers in other mechanical engineering branches.
Key Learning Outcomes
Key Lerning Outcomes are Expressed in following Structure: Knowledge, Skills, General competencies
Knowledge:
Branch graduates, who have a further seven specializations, obtain information and knowledge from the branch of design and construction, operation, the maintenance and diagnostics of production machines and equipment. They obtain the principles and knowledge of methodical design and design theory with the use of computer aids. They gain deeper knowledge of pivotal disciplines of mechanical engineering as a broad base for innovators working in engineering and for other specialized growth through various forms of lifelong education.
Skills:
Graduates of the masters study are characterized especially as designers, calculation specialists, and research and development staff. They gain special knowledge from the dynamics of fluid mechanisms, flow modeling, the control of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms and the design of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms. They complete designing exercises in the branch while independently working on their year project.
General competencies:
Graduates develop their knowledge and skill in the design of machine parts, groups and mechanical equipment, applying the principles and knowledge of a methodical approach to design, design theory and thoroughly learn how to use comport equipment means and computer graphics in designing and constructing machines and equipment. They gain information and knowledge underlying practice work from the branch of designing and constructing machines and equipment.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples
Graduates can find employment as calculation specialists, designers, development staff in design, designers in sections dealing with the construction of machines and equipment and in companies dealing with assembly, the operation and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, but also pumping equipment, pipeline distribution, lubricating equipment, testing areas and other areas.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Examination regulations, assesment and grading are described in the Study and Examination Rules.
Curriculum:
Remark:
Course block: Compulsory - all courses are compulsory.
Course block: Choice-compulsory - student has to choose at least one course from the list of courses.
