Summary
Subject CAD I focuses on techniques and tools of creation of 3D models of parts and assemblies together with 2D mechanical drawings in the CAD/CAE system Creo. Creo is one of the CAD systems which are called “big CAD” (such as Catia, NX, SolidWorks). Creo is used in companies from various branches all over the world (Airbus, Boeing, Toyota, Harley-Davidson, Caterpillar, John Deer, ABB, Rexroth, Pfizer, Samsung, Dell etc.).
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Create 3D models of parts and assemblies.
Create 3D models of mechanisms.
Prepare mechanical drawings of parts and assemblies.
Course Contents
1) The basic philosophy of 3D modeling. Creation of basic types of models. Creating volumes extrude, rotation.
2) The cutting of the volumes, creating holes, thin models, ribs. Fillet and chamfer.
3) Copy elements, creating paterns.
4) Creation of auxiliary elements. Datum planes, axis, points coordinate systems.
5) Other types of models, extrude more sketches, extrude of sketches along the curve.
6) Creation of auxiliary elements. The area axis, the point coordinate system.
7) Preparation of a model for creating a assembly, the types of conections. Redefining the location of components in the assembly.
8) Modification in the assembly, changing of parts dimensions, and moving and rotation part of the. Creating components in the assembly.
9) Copy components. Relationships in the assembly. Making sections in the assembly. Modification of sections in the assembly.
10) Advanced techniques of model making. Creating models of springs, sketching curves.
11) Define relationships in the model, the tool "Family table.
12-13) Creation of drawings of parts and assemblies.
14) Creating mechanisms to the assembly.
