Summary
Students get knowledge, which is now routinely expect from mechanical engineers in testing labs, in design (engineering) offices, in the department for inspection and in quality control or diagnostics for maintenance. Students will learn how to perform frequency analysis and signal other procedures that are commonly used in the diagnosis of mechanical equipment via measurement speed, vibration and noise. Students will be familiar with the signatures of common defects in bearings, in gear units and in motors. The lectures are focused as well on measuring operational deflection shapes and modal analysis. Introduction course is a response to the penetration of electrical engineering in machines and requirements of market for engineering products in the countries of the European Communities.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The main objective of the lecture on the technical diagnostics IV is to give students knowledge of basic properties transducers, sensors for noise and vibration diagnostics, as well as become familiar with the technique of noise, vibration and rotational speed measurements, the spectral analysis in the diagnosis of sliding and roller bearings, gear units and combustion engines. Another objective is to describe the basics of balancing rotors, evaluation of operational deflection shapes and modal analysis of machine components and structures. Understanding the methods used to analyze the diagnostic measurements in industrial applications. The aim is to reach independent decisions about the result of measurements and to assess the state machinery.
