Summary
The subject is connecting with lessons Technology I, II, Machining - subjects what are interested about machining (turning, milling, drilling, and so on.) The subject extends knowledge about technological process creation and programming CNC machines tools. It will be used special software for CAM system (CAM - Computer-Aided Manufacturing). This subject is for II. semester of magister study, specialization mechanical technology. Students will study theory and practice of machining technology (turning, 2.5 axis milling, drilling) by means of CAD/CAM system MasterCAM. Contents of this subject including: creation and edition of CAD geometry, beginning cutting conditions, creation of technological process (strategy of cutting, setting cutting tools, instruction - G, M code etc.), cutting simulation, NC code generation for particular cutting machine.
The subject includes two practical demonstrations of 2.5axis machining and multiaxis turning in the CNC machining laboratory of the department. Practical demonstration include setting the milling center (machine tool setting, clamping of a cutting tools into a suitable tool holders, setting cutting tools, demonstration of different types of fixtures of workpiece, workpiece zero point setting using the workpiece probe, loading, editing, simulation, verification NC program in machine control system, and real cutting.

Course Contents
The course work is assigned to 2 projects, including developing procedures and information needed by engineers working in the CAM system. Students will learn how to work in a specific CAM system, which is taught in the Department of machining and assembly.

1. Explication basic terms. Introductory lecture. Software product options for computer aided manufacturing (CAM systems) - examples.
2. Creation a manufacturing process in CAM systems. Importing geometric data into the CAM system - modifying and positioning the geometric data (model of part, workpiece, fixtures and other geometry). Possibilities of creation and modification of fixtures, modification of technological parameters.
3. 2.5axis milling-roughing strategy. Project assignment.
4. 2.5axis milling-roughing strategy - continued interpretation.
5. 2.5axis milling – finishing strategy.
6. 2.5-axis milling - Finishing strategy -continued. Description of other ways of simulation and verification of machining.
7. Postprocessing - creating NC code. Setup sheet creation.
8. Work on the project. Practical demonstrations of machining in the CNC laboratory when setting milling center - 3axis milling (clamping the cutting tools, using tool probe, clamping the workpiece – using the fixtures and using the workpiece probe, simulation, verification and modification of the NC program in the machine control system).
9. 2axis turning for roughing.
10. 2axis turning for finishing.
11. Description of multi-axis turning strategies. Axial milling and drilling for multi-axis turning.
12. Radial milling, drilling and drilling outside of the axis of rotation for multi-axis turning.
13. Postprocessing - creating NC code. Setup sheet creation. Practical demonstrations of machining in the CNC laboratory when setting turning center – multiaxis turning (clamping the cutting tools, using tool probe, clamping the workpiece – using the fixtures, simulation, verification and modification of the NC program in the machine control system).
14. Completion of projects. Test. Evaluation.
