Summary
Based on the valid legislation in environmental protection, the subject presents the issue of monitoring of pollutants arising during the operation of an energy company in the area of air and water. The course also presents the basic tools for the evaluation of the energy company impact on the quality of the environment with the aim to obtain data for the creation of studies.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
In this course, students will learn the principles of enterprise monitoring, whose outputs serve to maintain the required level of the environment. The aim of the course is to clarify the principles of operation of individual components of enterprises monitoring, which are air, water and waste monitoring, including remote sensing and their connection. The subject also includes the assessment of the energy company impact on the environment. Students will acquire knowledge of technical calculations, analyzes and evaluation of environmental quality in accordance with valid legislation.
Course Contents
1. Introduction, legislative framework of environmental protection, Act No. 17/1992 Coll. On the environment and No. 123/1998 Coll. On the right to information on the environment
2. The influence of industrial technologies on the quality of the environment
3. Air protection in accordance with valid legislation, Act No. 201/2012 Coll. on air protection, tools to maintain air quality, air monitoring system
4. Technique for measuring air purity, monitoring systems of solid and gaseous pollutants, processing of measured data
5. Operational emission monitoring, sampling systems, data acquisition and collection including data transfer, archiving and processing
6. Practical implementation of environmental monitoring in industrial operations (ECO Monitoring)
7. Principle of authorized measurements of emissions, their purpose and importance for state administration in air protection
8. Air pollution monitoring system for air quality monitoring and methods of air pollution measurement with data collection and processing
9. Air quality assessment during technology changes in power plants, software support and basics of working with the Symos program
10. Water protection in the Czech legislation, Act No. 254/2001 Coll. On waters and Decree No.328 / 2018 Coll. On the procedure for determining waste water pollution
11. Importance of water on Earth, basic properties and principles of water treatment, quality monitoring
12. Monitoring of waste water quality and treatment in power and heating plants
13. Systems and methods of waste water quantity and pollution monitoring, laboratory analysis and measurement data processing
14. Waste management of energy company, systems of accounting and waste management, production monitoring
