Summary
The content of the course is problem solving and creating programs. In the course, students are introduced to computer procedures for solving basic mathematics problems. Standard Matlab functions are used for this purpose.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Students will be acquainted with the Matlab program, they are able to solve mathematical and technical problems using these tools. The course builds on basic mathematics courses and develops computer skills.
Course Contents
1. Motivation problems. Environment description and set-up, expressions and commands.
2. Matrices and vectors.
3. Parametrs of function and scripts.
4. Polynoms
5. Strings.
6. Graphs of functions. Visualization in 2D
7. Histograms and pie-graphs.
8. Visualization in 3D.
9. Bitmap pictures.
10. Animations.
11. Introduction to basic 3D printing technologies, available printers, materials for 3D printing. Cleaning the 3D printer.
12. Preparing the printing surface. Optimization of wall thickness and filling of printed objects.
13. Support mechanisms for printing more complex objects.
14. STL network editing tools. Preparation of a semester project.
