Summary
Auditory are informed about theory and field experience of all technological operations, which are participate in the process of coal preparation. Part of the subject is also methods of automation and control of adjustment processes.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Intensifying of student knowledge, which is associated with practical realization of adjustment operations generating flow sheet of coal preparation.
Course Contents
1. Introduction. Carbon in nature, origin and chemical composition of coal.
2. Black coal deposits in the Czech Republic, brown coal deposits in the Czech Republic. Other fossil fuel deposits in the Czech Republic.
3. Classification of coal. Petrographic classification of coal. International Business Classification.
4. Sampling of coal. Definition and designation of basic coal components and their use in the coal treatment process. Physical properties of coal and their use in the coal treatment process.
5. Evaluation of coal editability. Utilization of coal editability diagram for selection of coal treatment technology.
6. Preparatory processes in coal treatment (picking, protection from foreign objects, sorting before treatment, blowdown). Basic types of used equipment.
7. Separation of coal (in suspensions, seedlings, HC, spirals, pneumatic separators, troughs, flotation). Special features of coal separation.
8. Auxiliary processes in coal treatment (product dewatering - separators, centrifuges, filters, reservoirs, sludge thickening - thickeners, drying).
9. Possibilities of control of coal separation efficiency and their practical utilization (T - curves, ash deviation, organic yield).
10. Water circulation in coal treatment plant (treatment, sedimentation of sludge, flocculation agents, closure of sludge circulation). Regeneration of suspension.
11. Waste management of coal preparation plants.
12. Basic technological schemes of hard coal treatment, their choice.
Basic technological schemes of brown coal treatment, their choice.
13. Basic economic aspects and factors of coal treatment, the possibility of improving economic results. Basic problems of the current coal mining and the perspective of their solution.
