Summary
After completion of the „Current State and Development of Environment in Czech
Republic“ students will understand the basic environmental processes ,
polluting agents, contamination of environment and its history.Basic
information of monitoring, biomonitorig, evaluation of risk assessment.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The subject Current State and Development of the Environment in the CR aims to identify the historical context of pollution of the individual constituents of the environment and to clarify damage done to them. Next, methods of their monitoring and direct measuring, including evaluation of health risks, will be demonstrated.
Course Contents
1. Causes of environmental changes and influencing factors (settlements and migration of population, territorial distribution of population, demographic development)
2. Production and consumption (gross domestic product, people’s expenditures, employment, agriculture, industry, power engineering, building industry, transport, travel)
3. Waste, old ecological burdens, changes of climate
4. State and development of environment constituents - air (situation with emissions and immissions, operation of smog-warning and regulation systems, meteorological conditions)
5. State and development of environment constituents - water (hydrological and meteorological conditions, water quality, water use, water management, sources of pollution)
6. State and development of environment constituents - soil and rock environment
7. State and development of environment constituents- forests
8. State and development of environment constituents - nature and landscape (conservation of nature and landscape, Natura 2000, financial instruments to support conservation of nature and landscape)
9. physical field (state of the ozone layer over the Czech Republic, radiation situation, radon risk, noise, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation and electric and magnetic field)
10. Environment and health (health state of the population, extraneous matter in the food chain)
11. Environmental policy tools (economic instruments, environmental expenditures, voluntary tools)
12. Environmental Impact Assessment – EIA/SEA and Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control – IPPC, integrated register of environmental pollution
13. Education, training, public education and work with the public in the sphere of environmental education
