Summary |
---|
History and present of analog and digital printing techniques. Editing and designing of analogue and digital cartographic works, methods of creating of map compilation manuscripts and basic technological procedures of their publishing. Legislation in cartographic creation and production. Copyright of cartographic works. An important part is orientation in national and world digital cartographic works and data funds, including the EU INSPIRE initiative. |
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

The student will acquire basic theoretical knowledge of cartographic creation and production of analogue and digital cartographic works on the background of contemporary printing and typographic technologies. He / she will gain a basic overview of standardization in cartographic informatics, legislation in cartographic creation and production, including of copyright to cartographic works. He / she will get acquainted with selected national and world digital cartographic works and data funds and with the EU INSPIRE initiative.
By using digital technology can he /she create topographic or thematic maps compilation manuscript. |

1. Editorial work and design in the creation and production of cartographic works.
2. Creation of map compilation manuscripts of planar and spatial cartographic works.
3. Copying procedures.
4. Types of printing, offset printing technology.
5. Color theory, their use in cartography.
6. Processing of tone and text templates for printing.
7. Digital technology of cartographic production and technology of digital map printing.
8. Post-print work, bookbinding of maps and atlases.
9. Hardware and software for cartographic creation and cartographic production.
10. INSPIRE (SDI).
11. Standardization in cartographic informatics.
12. National and world digital cartographic works and data funds.
13. Archiving and evaluation of cartographic works.
14. Legislation in cartographic creation and production, copyright to cartographic works. |
